Huesca , Price: 104000
Semi-refurbished village house on the plane below the Aragon Pyrenese in Huesca.
This house in the heart of the small, picturesque village of Lupiñen, on the plain below the foothills of the Huesca Pyrenees, is in an extremely beautiful and quiet area.
The house has a total floor space of 200m2 on two floors of which 40m2 is a patio. On the upper floor there is a living room of 40m2 with fireplace, two attic bedrooms one of which has a bathroom (with bathtub) and a wooden floor. There are round beams in the ceilings and marvellous views from all the rooms in the house. The house is built of rocks and adobe bricks and the foundations are built into a rock which gives the street its name, Calle Peña.
The ground floor needs restoration work but there is space to put a kitchen, another large room and two further bedrooms. There is also the entrance to the cellar measuring some 22m2 and the stairs up to the first floor are made of stone
The house is on a plot of land which makes a corner of 15m along its front and 12m along its side where it would be possible to put a vehicle entrance.
The city of Huesca is just 11 minutes away (17km) along a straight road, while Zaragoza can be reached in under an hour on the dual carriageway. Pamplona is 150km away and a dual carriageway is currently being built between Navarra and the Mediterranean which will make this journey quicker and easier.
The French border is close as are the ski resorts of Formigal, Panticosa and Candanchu which are an hour away but this too will become shorter with the new road that is being built.
The Sierra de Guara, very popular with outdoor sports enthusiasts, is close as are the magnificent sugarloaf mountains Los Mallos de Riglos.
The lake of Sotonera is nearby which is popular for windsurfing and sailing.
There are three rural tourism houses in the village, a swimming pool in summer and a medical clinic. There is a modern, well-maintained play ground next to the church. The climate is very dry and excellent for the health, with lots of days of sunshine and an uncontaminated atmosphere. There is one shop and even a bank in the village, as well as vans that come on set days, bringing food.
The village is situated along what is called the ‘Ruta de Goya’, the Goya Trail and also known as the Crane Trail because this is the route migratory cranes take at the end of the summer.
Very close is the XVth century Loarre Castle, historically known as the home of Ramiro I, first king of the throne of Aragon, but more recently the castle featured in the Ridley Scott blockbuster Kingdom of Heaven starring Orlando Bloom and Liam Neeson.
