The Very Best Of Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads (Box Set) 6 discs
THIS IS THE COMPLETE SET
SERIES1 AND 2 PLUS THE LIKELY LADS
One of the best British sitcoms of all-time, The Likely Lads focuses on the friendship between two working-class men, James Bolam and Rodney Bewes, living in the north east of England. Bob (Bewes) is the 'sensible' one, doing his best to get on with his job and 'better' himself. Terry (Bolam) is the 'irresponsible' one, intent on living life to the full. He's forever getting himself (and Terry) into trouble of one kind or another...
Several, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais returned to the world of The Likely Lads with a sequel series, generally considered to be even better than the original show.
Terry Collier (James Bolam) returns from his stint in the army to find his north-east home-town and its inhabitants have changed beyond recognition. Out of contact during the intervening years, his best friend Bob Ferris (Rodney Bewes) has settled into a respectable white-collar job and is engaged to his boss's daughter, Thelma; a level-headed, prim librarian with aspirations - shared by Bob - to a better, brighter future. With distaste, Thelma remembers Terry from the past and she is aghast that he returns to interrupt their cosy new lives and exert what can only be his customarily poor influence over her easily led fiancé.
Includes every episode from series 1, 2 and 3 of The Likely Lads, as well as series 1 and 2 of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?
Featuring all the surviving episodes of the classic 60s comedy including the first ever episode and the final instalment.
Before Whatever Happened To... came The Likely Lads. A slice of 60s working class life, it slotted in neatly alongside Steptoe and Til Death Us Do Part, but this time the focus was on youth and it was set far away from London...
These are the same Terry Collier and Bob Ferris we learnt to love in the legendary 70s series - only younger. Two sharp young Geordies, short on cash, hormones buzzing, eager to live their young lives to the full.
Terry, though po-faced and cynical, is quick-witted and full of madcap schemes; Bob, cautious and socially ambitious but lacking his mate`s self-confidence, is invariably dragged along. Theirs is a responsibility-free world of booze, girls, football and laughs - but somewhere there is also a nagging feeling that their youth won`t last forever...
Entente Cordiale - The boys return from two weeks on the Costa Brava to discover an attractive French girl from the resort is coming over.
Double Date - Terry comes to the aid of love-lorn Bob by fixing them both up with a date.
Older Women Are More Experienced - Terry makes a move on the divorcee canteen manager at the factory.
The Suitor - Terry enlists Bob`s help to get rid of his sister`s boyfriend.
Last Of The Big Spenders - The boys try to impress two London girls as they take them out on the town.
Rocker - Bob invests in a mod scooter.
Goodbye To All That - When Bob joins the army, Terry secretly decides to join up too.
